Dreaming is one thing, but manifesting it is another matter entirely. We asked people who’ve made their dreams come true for their real-life tips on making things happen.
How do you manifest your dream? Saying it out loud and making a public commitment to your goals is a good start. Putting your dream out there can help you gain control over your goals and make them happen. But what’s next? What do you do once you’ve figured out what you want to do?
We gathered leaders and mentors from different sectors to share their experiences on reaching their goals. Each one of them has achieved success in their respective fields, and are true living examples of manifesting their dreams.
There’s no better time than the present, that’s for sure. When you finally have a goal in mind, you should get working on it as soon as possible while you’re at your most motivated. Putting it aside for another day means less time to work on your goals. Worse, you might forget why you had that goal in the first place, and you might not get around to pursuing the dream.
For Marvin Germo, bestselling author, investor, financial consultant, and international keynote speaker, starting early also meant a longer learning experience. “I just knew that if I started early, when mistakes would happen, I had enough time and a larger buffer to be able to make myself better and improve from my mistakes.”
Dreams don’t have to be just for you. It could be your dream for your business, community, family or loved ones. “Having a bigger purpose leads to the manifestation of success. When thinking of what you really want, it shouldn’t be just about yourself. Create a sense of purpose that’s meaningful for other individuals, or your team, or your business as a whole,” says Dr. Karen Remo, award-winning CEO, entrepreneur, and international media and marketing expert.
Having meaningful goals—ones with a bigger purpose—is the best kind of motivation towards achieving your dreams.
Having dreams is well and good, but dreams only come true if you pursue them and take the appropriate actions. List your dreams down on paper or create a vision board to help concretize the plan in your mind. Set a timeline—how long do you think it will take to reach your goals? Then, make sure to check in on your plan regularly to see how much you have achieved and if you need to extend your deadline.
Creating a SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) plan can help put your dreams into action. A successful entrepreneur is action-oriented, says motivational speaker, serial entrepreneur, and podcaster RJ Ledesma. “Take action and adjust along the way.”
You might think your dream doesn’t seem feasible because it has never happened before. But don’t let that stop you—you could be the first in your chosen path.
With Aranaz bags, Amina Aranaz Alunan was one of the first designers who created a local accessories brand that can compete in the international scene. In a market that was leaning towards global brands, Aranaz managed to stand out from the rest. “We seized the opportunity and never looked back,” she says.
While the road to success may not be easy, it doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. Savor each moment of the process—take pride in your hard work and note every mistake and every learning you pick up along the way.
“It’s good to have a goal or vision big or small, but don’t forget to enjoy every step while working hard for it,” said Roche Vandenberghe, FWD Insurance’s VP and Head of Marketing.
