CNN The Final Pitch’s The Dutiful Teachers is making homeschooling easier and more accessible to learners, parents, and teachers. Here’s how Teacher Sarah braved the pandemic and how she envisions a stronger, better educational system for all.
With the world in a pandemic, schools have quickly switched to remote learning. And this has posed quite a challenge to teachers, students, and parents. How do we make the transition easy for all? How do we get children to learn with a home setup? Sarah Alvarez Cortes saw this as an opportunity to turn her dream into reality.
As an educator, Teacher Sarah aspired to assist fellow Filipino teachers and parents in equipping children to learn better in the home setting. So, she created an educational platform, The Dutiful Teachers (TDT), to assist learners, parents, and educators all around the world by providing affordable, accessible, and quality educational support and assistance.
TDT not only supports homeschooled children, they also cater to kids with special needs and private school kids. But the program does not just benefit the learners, it also presents great opportunities to displaced Filipino private school teachers. This gives homeschooled children of busy Filipino OFWs from the Middle East, the professional support they need online.
With the fast-paced transition to digital education and the continuous struggle for Filipino OFWs to look for quality educational support abroad, TDT will be there to ensure that children will be able to adapt to the current situation despite the circumstances. In fact, Teacher Sarah envisions TDT to become “The Uber of Education.” Providing learners, parents, and educators access to education.
Life Lessons
Like with every business, the beginning is always challenging. Teacher Sarah admits there were a few bumps along the way, but she realized those experiences were life lessons. In her journey, she learned to be brave—that in times of uncertainty you just have to step up and grab the opportunity. There will be challenges—seen and unforeseen—but they should not hinder you from achieving your goal. She mustered the courage to establish TDT and join The Final Pitch.
